Meeting the Funeral Director

This meeting can take place in your home, at the hospital or at our funeral home, whichever is the most convenient for you.

The Funeral Director will arrange the following with
your advice:

• Arrange the transfer of the deceased person to the Funeral Home.
• Arrange for the provision of clothing for the deceased person.
• Prepare and dress the deceased person.
• Schedule a time for a viewing at the funeral home or other venue.
• The most suitable time and day for the funeral.
• Contact and confirm the availability of the Minister or Celebrant.
• Confirm and book the venue either Church, Chapel or other significant place.
• Confirm the time and book the cemetery or crematorium.
• Record the appropriate personal details and funeral arrangements.
• Determine the number of coffin bearers required.
• Order the floral arrangement for the coffin or casket.
• Record the selected type of coffin or casket.
• Type and fax the death and funeral notices.
• Provide envelopes and collection box for Donations to a Charity - if required.
• Contact the local RSA to arrange a service for ex-service personnel and provide red poppies and the appropriate flag.
• Notify WINZ or the Department of Veterans' Affairs of the death of the person concerned.
• Complete and lodge the Notification of Death form.
• Complete the cremation forms (as applicable).
• Complete order for burial form (as applicable).
• Order a copy of the Death Certificate as requested.
• Provide an estimate of the funeral cost for the Executor or next of kin.
• Arrange to prepare an audio/visual presentation of the deceased's life for the day of the funeral.
• Provide a Memorial Book for signatures at the church.
• Arrange for the provision and serving of refreshments to guests at the funeral as required.
• Arrange for those special touches such as balloons, doves, sparklers, foot & hand prints and casts if requested.
