Geoff Botherway

General Manager

Geoff began his career in the funeral industry in 1998 in Hamilton at the conclusion of high school, starting as a trainee embalmer. He completed his embalming qualification in Wellington in 2002. Geoff enjoyed his time in Wellington so much that he relocated in 2003, joining the Harbour City team. The following year, he completed his qualification in funeral directing.

Geoff is a past member of the Executive Committee of the New Zealand Embalmers Association, serving between 2009 – 2016 including two terms as President. He appreciates the variety that the funeral industry offers and values guiding families through personalised and meaningful funerals, regardless of the format they may take. He is passionate about the ever-evolving technology in the industry and enjoys contributing to the local community through education, happily sharing his knowledge.

In his free time, Geoff enjoys various sports (especially rugby and league), exercising, travelling, and listening to music and podcasts. However, he primarily spends his spare time with his partner and three daughters. On Saturdays, you can find him at his beloved Poneke Football (Rugby) Club, where he currently volunteers as a board member.
