After a personal experience in her late teens, Ruth aspired to help others, inspired by the support she received from a funeral director.

Recognising the importance of gaining life experience first, she spent the following years managing a household at a young age, undertaking a two-and-a-half-year move to the Himalayan Mountains in India, and travelling to various foreign places in between.

Ruth returned home to care for a family member and joined Harbour City as a Funeral Director in early 2014. With a well-rounded mix of life skills, compassion, a desire to learn, and a commitment to serving her community, she excelled in her studies, achieving the top overall student award and earning her Diploma in Funeral Directing in 2017.

Ruth enjoys a good laugh, values people from all walks of life, and believes that problems present opportunities for learning.

She is happily married and, outside of work, loves nurturing her mind and garden in Ōhau, which reflects her cherished memories of India.
